As both a musician and scientist, Esther strives to connect with others and to understand the world around us. Although her oboe performance and biophysics interests do not have much practical overlap, Esther wholeheartedly believes that the pursuit of each makes her better at the other. As a result of her study of both subjects concurrently, Esther embodies creativity, discipline, precision, pattern recognition, and is a clear communicator. Esther values authenticity, creativity, and curiosity, and this is at the core of her work.

Esther has been playing oboe for 12 years and English horn for 9, but really, she has been making music all her life. In recent years, Esther has performed in the Peabody orchestras and wind ensemble, the Pierrot Chamber Music Festival, and the Oyster Bay Music Festival.

Esther is creatively inspired by her Jewish upbringing and the grunge and rock music her dad listened to with her growing up. In her free time, Esther enjoys baking, playing Dungeons and Dragons, spending time with friends, reading, and composing music.

Esther is currently a dual degree student at Johns Hopkins University studying oboe performance at Peabody with Jane Marvine and biophysics at the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. In the future, Esther intends to pursue a PhD in biophysics, and she plans to continue playing oboe and English horn in her free time throughout her career. Esther especially enjoys chamber music, and she hopes to find opportunities to play with others at a professional level alongside having a career in science.
